But on Monday, after the news was splashed all over, the DDCA swung into action. There were at least four local bowlers/fielders for every India 'A' player, with the ground wearing the look of a cricket academy. So much so that there were quite a few cheering Ashok Dinda and Awana every time they beat a tentative-looking Robin Bist.

On the flip side — and a more important development at that — the BCCI has issued a gag order on the players. Team manager Lalchand Rajput rued missing “the chance for some exposure” for the upcoming players, but he was more than happy with the fact that team would be at full strength by Tuesday.

“Five more members — Manoj Tiwary, pacer Sami Ahmed, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha and Abhinav Mukund — will join tomorrow,” said Rajput. Shikhar Dhawan, who is reportedly out of the country, is also expected to join.
