"DDCA regrets the inconvenience caused to all spectators and others. We offer our apologies to them. All gate tickets will be refunded. A detailed announcment in this regard will be made shortly," Jaitley said after the match was called off because of a dangerous pitch.

The incident also triggered off a crowd trouble as the incensed spectators hurled water bottles and broken chairs into the ground.

The incident also put a question mark over Kotla's prospect as a 2011 World Cup venue since a similar incident 12 years ago had invited a brief ban for the Nehru Stadium in Indore. Jaitley said the association would take the issue seriously and ensure it doesn't happen again.

"The DDCA takes this matter very seriously. We will look into this matter and do all that is required to ensure that such a situation doesn't reoccur," Jaitley said in a statement.
