After a prolonged slump, Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag roared back to form with a scintillating half-century that paved the way for a comfortable victory over Mumbai Indians on Thursday.

With the Daredevils already through to the semifinals, the inconsequential tie at the SuperSport Park, provided Sehwag the perfect opportunity to get into the groove, ahead of Friday’s semifinal here. In his 10th game of the competition, Sehwag, who dropped himself to No 3 on Thursday, smashed a 27-ball 50, with the help of five boundaries and two sixes.

On Thursday, Sehwag managed to find the gaps with regularity that would seem ominous for his opponents on Friday. His dismissal in the 15 th over triggered a mini collapse, but the lower-order finished the job for the Daredevils.

The Delhi skipper’s first fifty of the tournament ensured the injury-prone Mumbai team were denied a consolation win to end an ordinary tournament.

For Mumbai, Sachin Tendulkar provided some entertainment as only he can and Ajinkya Rahane helped himself to his second fifty of the tournament.

Harbhajan Singh finished with four for 17, his best in the IPL. Sweet dreams certainly won’t be made of these though.
