Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their campaign alive as they scraped home by a solitary run, but not before Mahendra Singh Dhoni wound the clock back and sent out a reminder that the finisher is certainly going from strength to strength.
An unbeaten innings of 84 off 48 balls, Dhoni almost pulled off a miraculous chase. Needing 26 runs in the final over, MS clobbered Umesh Yadav for a boundary and three sixes, but then failed to connect the final ball as CSK lost the match by 1 run.
“Defending 160 on that sort of pitch and the amount of dew we had was an outstanding effort. On the last ball, that was the last thing I would’ve expected to happen. Feels good to win a game by a small margin. We’ve lost a couple by small margins. MS did what he does best and he gave us all a massive scare,” RCB skipper Virat Kohli said after the match.
