Modi’s future has been placed before the BCCI’s Disciplinary Committee, a body that has the power to recommend his expulsion from the Board.

Modi is currently suspended from all posts in the BCCI and the Indian Premier League, and his explanations to charges levelled against him have been found to be unsatisfactory.

"I am prima facie not satisfied sufficient cause has been shown by Mr Lalit K Modi to drop further proceedings,” wrote BCCI secretary N Srinivasan.

The secretary then goes on to explain in a point-by-point manner why Modi’s response to the showcause notices issued to him on April 26, May 6 and May 31 are unsatisfactory.

Interestingly, the Board has not sought any further explanation from Modi, choosing instead to refer the matter to its Disciplinary Committee.
