Former England spinner Min Patel announced today he was retiring from first-class cricket after 19 seasons with Kent.
The 37-year-old, who played two Tests against India, the country of his birth, in 1996, said now was the right-time to call it a day.
"It has been an honour to represent Kent for the best part of 20 years," he said. "While I feel mentally capable of carrying on, the body has said 'enough is enough!'," explained Patel.
Kent captain Robert Key added: "Min has been ever-present in the Kent side since I joined the club.
"He has been an inspiration to others throughout his caree and there are many cricketers within Kent and beyond who have benefited from his knowledge and advice."
Duing his career Patel took 630 first-class wickets at an average of just over 30 apiece and scored 3,945 runs at a shade over 17 per innings.
His two Test caps came while fellow left-arm spinner Phil Tufnell was left out of the side.
In unhelpful conditions he didn't make much of an impression for England and, after missig much of the 1997 season through injury, rarely looked like returning to international cricket despite being in fine form in recent seasons for south-east county Kent.
