Several former players on Saturday strongly supported the ban imposed by the BCCI on five players over the IPL spot-fixing scandal.

Former India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar felt the punishments would have a positive effect.

"The BCCI has done a good thing. It will send the right signal to the other players," he said.
Former pacer Madan Lal criticised the players for being greedy. "They may not have gone on to play for India, but if they had played domestic cricket for a couple of years, they would still have made a lot of money," he said.
Former India coach Anshuman Gaekwad felt Mohnish Mishra, Abhinav Bali and Amit Yadav should have been banned for at least five years and not one.
