Ganguly was middling the ball well - taking the likes of RP Singh and Zaheer Khan, when Sreesanth came into the attack.

Ganguly missed the line of the ball and was hit on his left ankle. Indian players rushed towards Ganguly. Sachin Tendulkar, who was practising nearby, also came to enquire about the injury.

After a few minutes, Ganguly limped to a makeshift tent - his face showing telltale signs of pain. Ganguly later nodded to his teammates indicating he was alright.

"We are here to play positive cricket and enjoy the series," a jovial Shoaib Akhtar told IANS after the nets.

Indian players put in that 'extra' bit

A good number of Indian cricketers were seen making few extra laps in the stadium well past dusk. A sizeable crowd watched the players practice.
