India opener Gautam Gambhir finally opened up regarding the alleged rift between the left-hander and India’s limited overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. There have been reports of Dhoni having a hand in axing Gambhir and his opening partner Virender Sehwag from the Indian team.
Though Gautam Gambhir recently made a comeback into the India Test team for the New Zealand and England series, Sehwag remained out of favour until he announced his retirement.
In a Facebook interaction with fans on Tuesday, Gautam Gambhir spoke on his relationship with Dhoni.
“There’s no rivalry between me and Dhoni. I feel whenever we’ve played for India, irrespective of the differences of opinion, our ultimate aim was to make the country proud and help India win,” said Gambhir.
The Delhi star, however, admitted that he has had differences of opinion with Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
“There are bound be differences in opinion and that happens in any sphere of life, if you are in a group, be it in a family or anywhere else...I think he’s (Dhoni) a fantastic player, a fantastic human being,” said Gambhir.

{{/usCountry}}Gambhir had taken a jibe at Mahendra Singh Dhoni before the India skipper’s biopic was released.
“I don’t believe in biopics on cricketers. I think those people who have contributed more to the country than the cricketers, deserve a biopic.
“There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore, biopics should be made on their lives,” Gambhir had tweeted.
Gambhir was an integral part of Dhoni’s game plan and the duo has won the 2007 World T20 in South Africa together.
In the 2011 World Cup final, Gambhir powered India’s chase with a classy 97 and India’s surge to No. 1 team in Test in 2009.
“We’ve had our best moments of our life together, whether it’s winning the World T20 in 2007 or the World Cup in 2011, being No. 1 Test side in the world. Our ambition and our goal has always been the same,” a frankly-speaking Gambhir told his fans.
