I won't bet on myself returning next year: McGrath

Disappointed at not being given a single opportunity in the on-going IPL, legendary Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has hinted at terminating his contract with the Delhi Daredevils and said he may not return for the next season of the Twenty20 tournament.

Disappointed at not being given a single opportunity in the on-going Indian Premier League, legendary Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has hinted at terminating his contract with the Delhi Daredevils and said he may not return for the next season of the Twenty20 tournament.

McGrath, who bid adieu to international cricket after the 2007 World Cup, was a regular in the Daredevils playing eleven in the inaugural IPL and with his immaculate line and length emerged as was one of the best bowlers last year.

But surprisingly, the 39-year-old fast bowler has been a bench warmer this season, courtesy Victoria pacer Dirk Nannes outstanding performance coupled with Ashish Nehra, Pradeep Sangwan and Aavishkar Salvi's consistent show.

"It has been hard to be a part of the bench, and I was hoping for a game during the league stage," he wrote in a newspaper column.

"I have asked a couple of people about why I was not being played, and I get the sense that they were worried about my fitness. I feel fitter than I did last year, but I guess I will not get a chance to prove that now.
