Following terror threats, specialised teams of the Indian Air Force (IAF) will keep an eye on the city skies to prevent any untoward incident during the first one-day international between India and South Africa on Sunday.
The police too have made elaborate arrangements during the series opener at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
"There are specific intelligence inputs which do not rule out air attacks. The IAF has been alerted and their personnel are maintaining air surveillance from specified locations," B.L. Soni, Inspector General of Police (Jaipur), told HT on Friday.
The police have divided the city into "five centres" to ensure foolproof security to players and spectators during the match. Soni said centres had been created at the airport, on the route leading to the hotel and stadium, at the hotel, and one each inside and outside the stadium. The team hotel has been sealed and guests are being allowed after strict verification.
Special teams have taken over the stadium in which CCTV cameras and metal detectors have been installed. Nearly 200 guards, including private security personnel and policemen, will be deployed at each entrance of the stadium and spectators will have to pass through several security checks.
Meanwhile, South African officials expressed apprehension over the security of their players on Friday. The police then took them on a round of the stadium and hotel and apprised them of the security arrangements. The teams checked in towards evening and will practice on Saturday.
