Pakistan’s Imad Wasim No.1 T20I bowler, Virat Kohli remains top batsman

Pakistan’s left-arm orthodox spinner Imad Wasim has risen to become the top bowler in Twenty20 Internationals while Virat Kohli remains the top batsman in the format in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council.

Pakistan’s magnificent 2017 has gotten better. After winning a Test series in the West Indies for the first time and defeating India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy to complete the treble, the team has a No.1 bowler in Twenty20 Internationals. Imad Wasim, the left-arm orthodox spinner, has surged to the top of the bowler’s rankings after a consistent performance.

Imad, the 28-year-old bowler, has been in fine form for Pakistan in Twenty20 Internationals. In 19 games, he has taken 23 wickets at a magnificent economy rate of 5.83. He has a haul of 5/14 which he achieved against two-time Twenty20 champions West Indies in Dubai in September 2016.

The left-armer’s elevation to the top has resulted in some changes. Indian pace bowlr Jasprit Bumrah is in second spot while Imran Tahir, who was leading the rankings, has slipped to third after a poor series against England in which he managed just one wicket in two games at an economy rate of over eight.

Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s leg-spinning sensation, is in fourth spot after a consistent 2016 and 2017 in which he has picked up 40 wickets in 25 games at an economy rate of 5.25.
