    The 811-run epic

India were four runs behind after ten overs. But from there, India shifted gears, and there was no looking back. WHAT AN EFFORT!!!! WHAT A BRILLIANT MATCH!!!! What an epic by Shubman Gill….

    A RECORD CHASE FOR INDIA!!!!

There it is, India get home with more than six overs remaining in the game and eight wickets in hand. Shubman Gill plays an epic knock. He remains unbeaten on 223. This is India's highest chase and this is only the second time that a score of over 400 has been chased down in ODI history.

    200 for Indian skipper!!!!

WHAT A KNOCK!!!! WHAT AN EFFORT!!!! Shubman Gill gets to 200. This is his second Double Hundred in ODIs and it comes in just 68 innings.

This is the fastest double hundred in the history of ODIs. Just the second batter to score multiple double hundreds in ODIs. And also only the second batter to score a double hundred in a chase.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 09:37:35 PM IST

    2nd Double Hundred for Gill?

Shubman Gill is now on 182*. He is moving fast towards a double century. If he gets there it would be his second in the format. Also, if he goes past 201 and India win the match, it will be the highest score by an individual in a successful chase. Astonishing effort this by the Indian skipper, especially in a chase of this margin.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 09:29:42 PM IST

Great chance for Gaikwad to get in

Ruturaj Gaikwad has joined Shubman Gill in the middle. This is a great chance for the CSK skipper to get some time in the middle, play a decent knock, remain not out and finish things for the team. India will be looking to get past the line as quickly as possible. West Indies have mentally given up, so dominating the rest of the innings and putting out a real statement will be what India will aim for.

    WHAT A CATCH!!!!!

A short ball and Kohli plays a classic ramp shot. The shot looked so good off the bat. But Rutherford was present in the deep. He takes the catch, shows great balance and awareness to hold on to it. Virat Kohli departs. But he has added the impetus that India needed after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma.

IND vs WI after 30 overs. (HT Digital)

India have just shot off and they are now way ahead of where West Indies were after 30 overs. Here is a look at the comparison.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 09:10:27 PM IST

    This is absolute carnage!!!

Virat Kohli has taken over from Rohit Sharma and has unleased some terrific shots. The required rate has gone way below 6 now. In a chase of 406, the required rate is way below run a ball with about 20 overs to go. That is unreal!!!! That is unbelievable!!!

  • 30 Sept 2026, 09:00:35 PM IST

There is no stopping Shubman Gill

The Indian skipper, Shubman Gill has now gone past 150. That is his third 150 plus score. A perfect captain's knock from the man. He is relentless in this knock and looks determined to not pause before the chase is over.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:53:00 PM IST

    No respite for West Indies

Rohit Sharma walks back. That should give a bit of relief to the bowling team. But look at the stands and look who is coming out to bat. It is VIRAT KOHLI. One titan replaces the other. From here, Kohli and Gill wil look to finish this off.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:50:45 PM IST

    Is he gone!!!???

APPEAL!!!! The umpire has raised the finger. Is that the first wicket??!!! Rohit Sharma is not impressed by the call. He has a chat with Shubman Gill and sends this upstairs. Let us see and hope that India turn out successful with this review.

No bat in that. The ball tracking shows three reds. OH!!!! End of a classic knock. Rohit Sharma has to walk back. India lose their first wicket. But the game is mostly done.

    IND - 255/1 (26.2)

Rohit ‘Hitman’ Sharma gets to his 35th ODI hundred

And there is the century for Rohit Sharma. This is his 35th ODI hundred!!! What presentation of batting this has been. What a partnership this has been.

Also, this is a huge huge statement. This man is far from done!!! He can still function under pressure. TAKE A BOW CHAMPION!!!!

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:37:02 PM IST

    This is supreme domination

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are both so pleasing to the eye. Watching this partnership unfold is like watching poetry in motion. There can be no better sight. The way these switch gears, play their shots is just extraordinary to say the least.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:30:25 PM IST

Shubman Gill vs Virat Kohli after 11 ODI hundreds

Shubman Gill is ahead of Virat Kohli's early ODI century curve. Gill has now 11 ODI hundreds in just 68 innings, while Kohli required 82 innings to get there - Gill is 14 innings quicker. Kohli's 11th was the iconic 183 against Pakistan in 2012; Gill has reached the same century count considerably earlier in terms of opportunities. The ODI captain's rate of accumulation is quite extraordinary.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:27:39 PM IST

    Gill's extraordinary conversion rate

Shubman Gill does not merely get starts in ODI cricket - he converts them. His 11th century means Gill now has 31 scores of fifty or more, comprising 11 hundreds and 20 fifties. That gives him a 50-to-100 conversion rate of 35.5%. Put differently, more than one of every three times Gill reaches fifty, he goes on to make a century.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:23:03 PM IST

    Shubman Gill you beauty!!!

FOUR!!!! That is it!! The century for Indian captain. This is 11th ODI century. He has this great knack of converting 50s into hundreds. Also, this current form of his is something to watch out. Shubman Gill is slowly turning into an ODI giant.

Gill gets their in just 62 deliveries. This has been an innings filled with elegance and grace.

Here is a comparison of the India vs West Indies innings progression after 20 overs.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:15:54 PM IST

    Gill is now going faster

Shubman Gill is just bringing down hell on these West Indian bowlers. He is waiting for the bad deliveries and putting away the loose ones out of the fence at will.

The Indian skipper has raced off into the 90s and has done it in fewer deliveries than Rohit Sharma. It appears as if West Indies have already surrendered the game.

    IND - 184/0 (19.3)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:07:28 PM IST

    At last Vitel Lawes

At last, Hope turns to Vitel Lawes. This could be interesting!!!! How Gill and Sharma play him will be interesting. How Lawes approaches this over will be even more interesting.

Mind you, he is a proper wicket-taker. He might give away a few runs, but he will look for wickets for sure.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:04:04 PM IST

A deeper statistical look at Rohit Sharma's 12,000 ODI runs

Rohit Sharma has raced to 12,000 ODI runs in just 282 innings, becoming the second-fastest ever behind Virat Kohli (242) and ahead of Sachin Tendulkar (300). He is only the seventh batter overall, and third Indian, to reach the landmark. Remarkably, Rohit went from 10,000 to 12,000 in just 41 innings — only four more than Kohli needed for the same stretch.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 08:00:35 PM IST

    12000 ODI runs

So, Rohit Sharma now goes past 12,000 ODI runs. Just a couple of days ago, we saw Virat Kohli going past 15,000 ODI runs. So, those two together have 27,000+ ODI runs. What a dressing room to be a part of!!!!

  • 30 Sept 2026, 07:58:02 PM IST

    Where is Vitel Lawes?

Shai Hope is using Roston Chase against Gill and Sharma. Both these players are great players of off-spin and they will not spare him. Vitel Lawes might have given Hope the chance of a wicket.

Yes, he could be taken for runs. But he brings in a different flavour.

    IND - 152/0 (16)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 07:51:58 PM IST

    Gill gets to his fifty

Shubman Gill has been the control factor in this partnership. While Rohit Sharma has taken on the bowling, the Indian skipper has mixed caution with aggression. Well, his purple patch continues as he goes past the 50-mark. Both him and the team will hope that he continues batting and this partnership keeps on stretching.

    IND - 128/0 (14.4)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 07:45:53 PM IST

    The platform is laid

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill look comfortable and are motoring along. The partnership has worked 121 runs, and the platform has been laid for this epic chase. With the chase master himself due to come in next, India look well on the way to breaking a record tonight.

    IND - 121/0 (14)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 07:41:27 PM IST

    A beamer!!!

At the start of the second innings, the commentators were talking about dew. The consensus was that there was no dew on the ground. However, Shamar Joseph has bowled a beamer, and he is suggesting that it's slipped out of his hands. So, is dew actually coming in now? If it is so, then it will actually help India in the chase.

No ODI series win for West Indies against India in 20 years

In the last 20 years, these two teams have played 13 ODI series. All of them have been won by India. The Men in Blue have a chance to make it 14 tonight, but for that, they need to chase down a record total. However, the start to the epic chase has been brilliant and India will be looking to build strongly from here.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 07:35:33 PM IST

Shubman Gill-Rohit Sharma putting on a show

The opening partnership has now worked over 100 runs. West Indies should look to bring in their new weapon in the form of Vitel Lawes. The left-arm wrist spinner can provide something new in this attack and hence produce a wicket. Sharma and Gill will look to continue this partnership for as long as possible.

    IND - 106/0 (12)

You are my love letter to cricket

The Rohit Sharma fans are taking over social media. That is quite some expression. But given the lazy elegance of Rohit, that is apt.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 07:22:22 PM IST

    And Rohit Sharma has arrived

A six!!!!! And that is the half-century for our own ‘Hitman’. He has reached the landmark of just 32 deliveries. The stage is all set for India and for Rohit Sharma. We may well be in for Rohit's fourth double hundred in ODIs. Yes, I may be talking about it a bit too early, but there is no harm in praying.

    IND - 92/0 (9.5)

    Rohit and Gill catching up

India slowed down a tad around the 3-5 over mark. But Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have picked up the scoring rate from the 6th over. They have blasted the West Indian bowlers in the last 18 balls, dragging down the scoring rate. All set for a great chase.

    IND - 73/0 (8)

West Indies' pacers doing a better job with the new ball

The West Indian pacers have done a much better job than their Indian counterparts. They are bowling a better length and line. India are off to a steady start, but they have not been able to destroy the bowlers as was expected before the start of the second innings.

    IND - 50/0 (6.3)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:56:00 PM IST

    Momentum drop for India

India started off with a flyer in the first two overs, but since then, the West Indian pacers have made a good comeback. They are hitting the hard length and leaving little room for the two Indian openers. Rohit is trying to upset Seales, but he is failing to make any connection. Pressure is actually mounting on India.

    IND - 33/0 (5)

Rohit Sharma off to a flier

Rohit Sharma has found his footing immediately. He has launched Alzhari Joseph for a six and two boundaries in the second over. India have got the start they needed for this record chase. It is now upon Rohit and Shubman to build this as a strong platform.

    IND - 26/0 (2.2)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:38:41 PM IST

406 has an extraordinary India-West Indies echo

India need 406 tonight, and remarkably, that number already occupies a special place in their history against the West Indies. At Port of Spain in 1976, India were set 403 in the fourth innings of a Test and finished 406/4, then the highest successful chase in Test history.

Sunil Gavaskar made 102, Mohinder Amarnath 85, and Gundappa Viswanath an unbeaten 112, while Brijesh Patal finished 49 not out. Fifty years later, against the same opposition, India now require 406 again - this time in 50 overs.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:30:16 PM IST

India starting at a 3.57% piece of ODI history

West Indies' 405/7 is the 32nd 400-plus total in men's ODI history, but successful chases from this territory remain almost non-existent. Before today, there had been 29 first-innings scores of 400 or more. South Africa's extraordinary 438/9 chasing Australia's 434/6 in 2006 remains the only occasion when the original 400-plus target was successfully overhauled.

New Zealand's 401/6 against Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup also ended in defeat, but rain reduced Pakistan's target under DLS, so it was not a completed chase of 402.

Excluding the rain-revised game, teams facing an intact 400-plus target before today had succeeded once in 28 attempts - a success rate of just 3.57%. India now need 406 to become only the second side in ODI history to complete one.

Take time to respect Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav's 2/65 looks far better when the scoring environment is taken into account. West Indies went at 8.10 an over, while Kuldeep conceded just 6.50. More tellingly, through 40 overs, he had figures of 1/37 from seven, an economy of 5.29, while the rest of India's attack had leaked runs at roughly 8.85 an over. On a brutal batting night, Kuldeep was India's lone source of control.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:22:45 PM IST

What is Virat Kohli's record at Barsapara?

Virat Kohli has batted twice at this venue and has scored two centuries. No better signs for the Indian fans. All three top-order superstars enjoy this venue. With a record chase ahead, the signs are very very positive for India.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:21:01 PM IST

What is Rohit Sharma's record at Barsapara?

Rohit Sharma has been brilliant in Barsapara in the two matches that he has played. In fact, he averages in the 200s at this venue. Those are not good signs for the West Indies. And in the last match that he played against them at this venue, he scored 152*.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:18:53 PM IST

What is Shubman Gill's record at Barsapara?

Shubman Gill has played only one match at this venue. He looked really good in the middle. He is in form, coming off a hundred and hence we can expect a good start in this chase.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:15:45 PM IST

What is India's highest successful chase in ODIs?

India's highest ODI chase came back in 2013 against Australia. After 13 years, the Indian team has a chance to overhaul that record.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:09:09 PM IST

    Record chase on the cards

Here is a look at how the innings progressed for the West Indies in this record-breaking effort. Mind you!!! If India chase down this total, it will be highest in their ODI history.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 06:00:56 PM IST

A first timer for West Indies

That is the 400 for West Indies. This is the first time that they have reached the total. Three centuries have powered them to this total. India are up for a very steep climb here in the second innings. But that gives more opportunities for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to score even bigger. And both of them have a great record at this venue.

Also, this is the 32nd overall total over 400 in ODIs.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 05:53:57 PM IST

    Highest total for West Indies

West Indies now have 392 runs on the board, and this is their highest total in ODIs. As we write, a brilliant fielding effort from India has probably resulted in another wicket.

OH!!! Joseph made it in time. That is not out. The visitors are now just seven runs short of the 400-mark.

  • 30 Sept 2026, 05:52:14 PM IST

    Pleasure for India!!!

Another wicket!!! Jadeja gets one more. Alzari Joseph goes for the big shot and is holed out in the deep to Rohit Sharma.

India have picked up the wickets in these final overs, although the runs have flowed from the other end. However, these wickets have prevented the surge that could have left India looking at a target of well over 400.

    WI - 391/7 (47.4)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 05:39:54 PM IST

    Kuldeep does the trick!!!

Tossed up delivery at the off and middle. Paul goes for the big one, but in the end, that is a nothing shot. Kohli takes the catch with ease and India have definitely made a great comeback.

That is the 200th wicket for Kuldeep Yadav. The second fastest for iIndia after Mohammad Shami.

    WI - 369/6 (45.1)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 05:38:31 PM IST

    Aquib Nabi arrives at last

Not with a wicket!!!! But he bowls a good 45th over. However, he fails to close it out. Before that last ball, it was a more than decent over. Variations, thinking and execution, we saw everything. He just needed to close it better.

    WI - 369/5 (45)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 05:29:25 PM IST

    Jangoo goes!!!!

Slapped and straight into the hands of Gaikwad at point. WHAT A KNOCK!!!! Jangoo has been outstanding here. He has set an example.

But the wicket comes at the wrong time for the visitors. They needed him to carry on for this total to go beyond the 400-mark. India will take that gladly.

And!!! At last, a wicket for Jadeja. After 8 ODIs.

    WI - 348/5 (42.2)

  • 30 Sept 2026, 05:27:03 PM IST

    Just a reminder

The last time India and the West Indies played at this venue, the visitors batted first and posted 322. India chased down the target in just 42.1 overs, losing only two wickets.

They have gone well past that, but the Indian top order have a great record at this venue and this wicket looks really flat. So, Indian supporters don's lose hope yet.
