India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India beat England by 15 runs in Pune and thus confirmed a series win for themselves, taking an unassailable 3-1 lead. Harshit Rana took three wickets and there was some controversy around him replacing Shivam Dube as concussion sub. India's spinners wrestled momentum back in the hosts' favour after Ben Duckett and Phil Salt got England off to a flying start in their chase of 182. The pair blasted 62 runs in the powerplay before Duckett fell off the last ball of the sixth over to Ravi Bishnoi. Salt fell in the very next over to Axar Patel after which Bishnoi got the big wicket of Jos Buttler. The momentum has thus swung back in India's favour. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube smashed half-centuries and helped India recover from being five wickets down for 79 runs to 181/9 in 20 overs. Pandya smashed his way past fifty in 27 balls and finally fell on 53 off 30 to Jamie Overton. Pandya and Shivam Dube have powered an extraordinary fightback from India going into the death overs. India had found themselves in a hole just 12 balls into this match already with Saqib Mahmood dismissing Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma with his first two balls of the match itself and then sending back Suryakumar Yadav in the same over. He thus started his tour with a stunning triple-wicket maiden. Jos Buttler won the toss and England are bowling first, thus making this the first match of this series in which India are batting first. India have brought back Arshdeep Singh and Rinku Singh in place of Mohammed Shami and Dhruv Jurel and included Shivam Dube for the first time in the series in place of Washington Sundar. England have got better and better at dealing with India in the series, culminating in them winning the third T20I and staying alive. India's batters have been underperforming, as have England's, but the hosts will need them to fire if they are to pull away from the visitors again.

India vs England 4th T20I Highlights: India dug themselves out of multiple holes to go from being 12/3 in the second over to win the fourth T20I by 15 runs in Pune. The win comes amidst significant controversy around Harshit Rana being brought as concussion substitute for Shivam Dube. Rana grabbed the opportunity by returning figures of 3/33. ...Read More
Harry Brook fell to Varun Chakravarthy right after crossing the milestone and then dismissed Brydon Carse in the same over to help India nose ahead in what has been a see-saw fourth T20I in Pune. Ben Duckett and Phil Salt earlier blasted an opening partnership of 62 runs in the powerplay of before the former fell to Ravi Bishnoi off the last ball of the sixth over. This was followed by Axar dismissing Salt and Bishnoi getting the big wicket of Jos Buttler. England are chasing a target of 182.
India were put to bat first by Jos Buttler, who won the toss for the first time in this series and fast-bowling all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube them from sinking to an embarrassing total by blazing half-centuries and getting the hosts to a score of 181/9. India had lost three wickets in the second over of their innings and reeling at 79/5 in the 11th over. Pandya and Dube put up a partnership of 87 runs off just 45 balls for the sixth wicket. The former eventually fell on 53 off 34 balls while Dube finished unbeaten on 50 off 30 balls.
Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma had earlier chosen attack as the best form of defence for India as they powered India past the 50-run mark in the eighth over. Saqib Mahmood, bowling for the first time on this tour, started off with two wickets off his very first two balls and then went on to pick another one in the same over in the fourth T20I between India and England in Pune. He thus got a rare triple-wicket maiden and it left India with a deep hole to climb out of just 12 balls into the match.
Saqib dismissed Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma with his first two balls of the tour itself and Suryakumar fell off the last ball. Jos Buttler won the toss at last, having lost it all three times before today in this series, and England are bowling first. India have brought back Rinku Singh and Arshdeep Singh for Dhruv Jurel and Mohammed Shami respectively and added Shivam Dube to provide some firepower in the middle order in place of Washington Sundar.
This series has been a battle between India's spinners and England's pacers, with batters on both sides blowing hot and cold. India won the first battle emphatically, then just about managed to keep England out in the second thanks to Tilak Varma. In the third, though, even a five-wicket haul from Varun Chakravarthy was not enough for them to avoid defeat. England seem to have got increasingly better at winning in these conditions in their own way as the series progressed and so India would know that they have their task cut out as far as keeping their lead goes for the rest of this series.
Some of India's batters will be under the spotlight today, particularly openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Both their positions are set to be threatened by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill whenever they return to the T20 fold. Samson had done more than enough to get an extended run in the position thanks to his three centuries in four innings before this series. Here, though, he seems to have been completely found out by Jofra Archer and Co. Abhishek Sharma played a blinder in the first T20I but wasn't able to make much of an impact in the second and third matches.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav fell for a two-ball duck in the first T20I and then couldn't capitalise on starts in the second and third. In his last six innings, he has scored just 52 runs. This is the first time that he has gone six innings without a fifty in T20Is. However, assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate has indicated that India are not too bothered by this as this sort of a run is bound to come when batters stick to a high-risk approach.
"Someone like Surya has set such high standards [set] by himself, and I wouldn't say consistency or predictability is a particularly high marker in T20 cricket," ten Doeschate said. "The job we ask from these guys is to go out and score really quickly and the way the international T20 game has gone, we are allowed for a bit of consistency and a lean patch like he is going through at the moment."
England's ploy of throwing the kitchen sink at the Indian bowlers, particularly the spinners, almost worked at the Chepauk in the second T20I. The fact remains that they would have probably stuck to that tactic in Rajkot for the third T20I even if it hadn't worked at all in Chennai. Such is the Bazball way. They have their task cut out for them, though - in India they are facing a side who have won 15 of the 18 T20Is they have played since they won the 2024 T20 World Cup. India are also unbeaten in their last 17 T20I series at home, with their last defeat being a 2-0 loss to Australia in February 2019.

India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India beat England by 15 runs, confirm series win
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Mahmood holes out and that is that! Arshdeep Singh finishes it off with a wicket for himself, England are all out for 166. India have won the series and they are a cock-a-hoop. What a match, what a series. England are clearly quite annoyed by the concussion sub situation, Jos Buttler giving some cold handshakes to the Indian players with a very tight smile on his face. He has been thunderstruck throughout this innings.
But it has to be said, England had India down 12/3 in the second over and 79/5. Then they were 62/0 in the chase of 182 and then looked set to make it home when Brook scored his half-century and Overton was going big guns. Each time, somehow, India pulled it back in their favour. One concussion sub is not the only reason for all this. Still, asking whether it was right for the umpires to allow Rana to be brought in is a legitimate question all right. A proper brain fade for them, judging by a layman's reading of the rules. But it was not the only reason England lost this.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! Rana gets Overton with the last ball of the over!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Well there will be so much to discuss here. Concussion sub Rana has got a third wicket and he has dismissed Overton, possibly England's greatest hope. Overton had turned down Rashid as many as three times in this over, that approach is debatable to say the least.
England need 19 to win from the last over
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: DROPPED! Samson and Chakravarthy make a meal in the field!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Overton, the danger man! He gets a second chance here and how much will India regret this. He smoked the first ball from Rana over the bowler's head for a four. Then he denies Rashid the strike second ball. He then top edges third ball, it goes high behind him, Samson calls for it, Chakravarthy at short third totally unaware of it. He sees Samson last second, can't move out of the way in time and Samson drops.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: SIX! Rashid keeps England in it
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: That is the best possible result for England in that situation. Five singles off Arshdeep's first five balls. Then Arshdeep takes the pace down against Rashid, the batter smashes it over long-on. Hits the boundary pad on the full and it is a six.
England need 25 to win from 12 balls.
England 157/8 in 18 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: GONE! Archer completely flummoxed by Bishnoi
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Archer tries to make room but it keeps coming into him. He ends up bottom edging the ball onto his own stumps. Archer walks off shaking his head, it was just too good from Bishnoi.

India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! Another wicket for Rana!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: England are sinking now. It was a slower one from Rana, Bethell can't get power on his heave. The ball goes high up in the air but SKY keeps his eyes on it takes it safely. India on a roll.

England 137/7 in 15.5 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: GONE! Two in the over for Chakravarthy!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: He has done the job once again. Carse set himself up but can't get the connection on his heave, it is miscued to deep square leg. Rinku Singh with an easy catch and he doesn't drop them.
Carse c Rinku b Varun 0 (2)
England 133/6 in 14.5 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! 50 and gone for Brook, Chakravarthy gets the big wicket
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Brook swept the second ball past fine leg for a four to get to his half-century in 25 balls. But he then scoops the very next ball straight into the hands of fine leg. Suryakumar gestures towards his teammates to stay calm.
Brook c Arshdeep Singh b Varun 51 (26)
England 129/4 in 14.3 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: 6, 6, 4! Brook pummels Rana!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Well, Brook seems to have done exactly what Knight was saying he and Bethell should be doing. Brook runs two off the third ball of that over and picks up the fourth over fine leg for a six. Rana bowls a similar ball, this time Brook hits it over long off for another six. The last ball is hammered over deep backward point for a four. Brook is on 47 off 24 balls, Bethell at the other end on two off four.
England's deficit has now come down to 58 needed off 36 balls.
England 124/4 in 14 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: England go past 100...
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Just seven runs off the 13th by Chakravarthy, it is his third over, and now Rana continues. Nick Knight says in the commentary box that while he agrees that this is not a like for like replacement, England should try and capitalise on this as Bethell and Brook would probably like to be facing someone like Rana instead of the medium to slow pace of Dube.
England 106/4 in 13 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! Rana sends back Livingstone!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Rana is making his T20I debut, by the way, and he celebrates with everything he has got as Livingstone edges behind. England will not be happy with this, not just because of where they are in this match, but because Rana is not a like-for-like replacement for Shivam Dube. Unless Dube vastly improved as a fast bowler and became a spearhead in his time in domestic cricket between the T20 World Cup and now. It was a quick delivery from Rana, Livingston seemed to be trying to steer the ball to third man, gets a faint edge to Samson.
Livingstone c Samson b Harshit Rana 9 (13)
England 95/4 in 11.2 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: 10 overs gone, England need 96 to win from 60
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Eight runs in the 10th over bowled by Bishnoi. England are only slightly behind the required run rate at the moment, their score at this point is quite similar to India's except that they have got more wickets of course. However, the bulk of England's scoring has to come against India's spinners.
England 86/3 in 10 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Harshit Rana is in as concussion sub for Shivam Dube
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: We have seen both SKY and Buttler having lengthy conversations with the umpire in the last few overs and that has to be around Harshit Rana's presence in the field. Dube was hit on the head during the last over of the Indian innings and it seems Rana is on for him as a concussion sub. A frontline pacer has replaced a fast-bowling all-rounder. Interesting...
Chakravarthy returns for the ninth over now.
England 67/3 in 8 overs, need 115 to win off 72 balls.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! IT'S BUTTLER!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Well the momentum is firmly back in India's favour now. Bishnoi goes short and wide third ball of the eighth, Buttler tries to cut. But the revs that Bishnoi has on the ball gives it that extra bounce, the ball darts to short third man where Rana takes a sharp catch.
Buttler c sub (Harshit Rana) b Ravi Bishnoi 2 (3)
England 67/2 in 7.3 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! Axar gets Salt, India back in it
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: The momentum shifts again. Axar sends the fifth ball of the seventh flat and quick, having conceded just three runs before that in the over. Salt tries to chop it away and misses, his stumps are disturbed.
Salt b Patel 23 (21)
England 65/2 in 6.5 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! Wicket off the last ball of the powerplay
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Ravi Bishnoi breaks the opening stand. Duckett tried swinging over mid-on, doesn't get the require connection at all. Suryakumar seemed to be blinded a bit with the ball going in the lights but he takes the catch in the end.
Duckett c Yadav b Ravi Bishnoi 39 (19)
England 62/1 in 6 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: 50-run opening stand in just 5 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Well this is not going well for India at all. They lost the powerplay battle while they were batting, now they are losing another powerplay battle with the ball. Axar comes in for the fifth over and Duckett slog sweeps the first ball through midwicket for a four. Two runs off the next two balls and then Duckett reverse sweeps the fourth past point for a four. Then Duckett gets the fifth ball over that fielder for a six. That's 16 runs in that over, Duckett is on 37 off 17, Salt is on 15 off 13.
England 53/0 in 5 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: 13 runs off the 3rd now! Early problems for India
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Wow Ben Duckett with a hat-trick of fours off Arshdeep in the third over and this has forced Suryakumar to go to Varun Chakravarthy in the fourth over already. Duckett played the first ball back to the bowler. The second is chipped in the air but out of reach for square leg. It is a lightning fast outfield now and so the ball just races to the boundary as well. The second is picked beautifully over midwicket for another four and the third is hooked over long leg to make it a hat-trick of boundaries. Duckett takes a single next ball and Salt cops a dot last ball. Duckett is on 18 off seven, Salt on 14 off 11.
England 32/0 in 3 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: 11 runs off the 2nd! A good start for England
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Duckett welcomes Pandya by flaying a short-length delivery between the wicketkeeper and short third man for a four. He takes a single next ball and then Salt smashes the third over short cover for another four. Two runs off the last ball. Salt has raced to 14 off 10, Duckett on five off two.
England 19/0 in 2 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: 8 runs off the first over!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Salt defends the first ball back to Arshdeep and then jabs the second ball to covers. The third is sent straight of mid-off for a four and the fourth driven past mid-on for another four. A good start for Salt. No dew yet. Now Pandya to bowl the second over.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: And we are back!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: All right then, Phil Salt hasn't fired at all and so he would be wanting some runs here. Ben Duckett looked good in the last match. Arshdeep Singh back in the side, he is two wickets away from 100 T20I scalps. Dube and Pandya have completely changed the look of this game and England have a real task in their hands.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India 181/9 in 20 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Dube has finishes unbeaten on 53 off 30 balls, Pandya had scored 53 in 34. Regardless of whether India win this match or not, this has been some recovery led by the two big fast-bowling all-rounders.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: BACK TO BACK FOURS! FIFTY IN STYLE FOR DUBE!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: He has blazed a half-century on his return to international cricket. Carse with a full toss fifth ball of the 19th, Dube flicks it away for four. Then he crashes the last ball through covers for another four and he crosses 50 in 31 balls.
India 178/5 in 19 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: OUT! Pandya's classic ends
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: He loses shape for once and is caught at cover. Overton ends this partnership on 87 off 45 balls. It was a slower ball that did Pandya in. That was a very good catch running back by Buttler. Pandya gets a standing ovation as he walks off.
Pandya c Buttler b Overton 53 (30)
India 166/6 in 18 overs
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: FIFTY FOR PANDYA IN 27 BALLS!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Wow Hardik Pandya is just taking England to town here. Overton goes wide down the leg side first ball of the 18th, then he bowls a full toss above Pandya's waist and the batter pulls it away for four. That is a no-ball as well and then Pandya makes the most of the free-hit, smashes it down the ground for a six. He thus gets to a 27-ball fifty.
