India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India beat England by 15 runs in Pune and thus confirmed a series win for themselves, taking an unassailable 3-1 lead. Harshit Rana took three wickets and there was some controversy around him replacing Shivam Dube as concussion sub. India's spinners wrestled momentum back in the hosts' favour after Ben Duckett and Phil Salt got England off to a flying start in their chase of 182. The pair blasted 62 runs in the powerplay before Duckett fell off the last ball of the sixth over to Ravi Bishnoi. Salt fell in the very next over to Axar Patel after which Bishnoi got the big wicket of Jos Buttler. The momentum has thus swung back in India's favour. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube smashed half-centuries and helped India recover from being five wickets down for 79 runs to 181/9 in 20 overs. Pandya smashed his way past fifty in 27 balls and finally fell on 53 off 30 to Jamie Overton. Pandya and Shivam Dube have powered an extraordinary fightback from India going into the death overs. India had found themselves in a hole just 12 balls into this match already with Saqib Mahmood dismissing Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma with his first two balls of the match itself and then sending back Suryakumar Yadav in the same over. He thus started his tour with a stunning triple-wicket maiden. Jos Buttler won the toss and England are bowling first, thus making this the first match of this series in which India are batting first. India have brought back Arshdeep Singh and Rinku Singh in place of Mohammed Shami and Dhruv Jurel and included Shivam Dube for the first time in the series in place of Washington Sundar. England have got better and better at dealing with India in the series, culminating in them winning the third T20I and staying alive. India's batters have been underperforming, as have England's, but the hosts will need them to fire if they are to pull away from the visitors again.

India vs England 4th T20I Highlights: India dug themselves out of multiple holes to go from being 12/3 in the second over to win the fourth T20I by 15 runs in Pune. The win comes amidst significant controversy around Harshit Rana being brought as concussion substitute for Shivam Dube. Rana grabbed the opportunity by returning figures of 3/33. ...Read More
Harry Brook fell to Varun Chakravarthy right after crossing the milestone and then dismissed Brydon Carse in the same over to help India nose ahead in what has been a see-saw fourth T20I in Pune. Ben Duckett and Phil Salt earlier blasted an opening partnership of 62 runs in the powerplay of before the former fell to Ravi Bishnoi off the last ball of the sixth over. This was followed by Axar dismissing Salt and Bishnoi getting the big wicket of Jos Buttler. England are chasing a target of 182.
India were put to bat first by Jos Buttler, who won the toss for the first time in this series and fast-bowling all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube them from sinking to an embarrassing total by blazing half-centuries and getting the hosts to a score of 181/9. India had lost three wickets in the second over of their innings and reeling at 79/5 in the 11th over. Pandya and Dube put up a partnership of 87 runs off just 45 balls for the sixth wicket. The former eventually fell on 53 off 34 balls while Dube finished unbeaten on 50 off 30 balls.
Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma had earlier chosen attack as the best form of defence for India as they powered India past the 50-run mark in the eighth over. Saqib Mahmood, bowling for the first time on this tour, started off with two wickets off his very first two balls and then went on to pick another one in the same over in the fourth T20I between India and England in Pune. He thus got a rare triple-wicket maiden and it left India with a deep hole to climb out of just 12 balls into the match.
Saqib dismissed Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma with his first two balls of the tour itself and Suryakumar fell off the last ball. Jos Buttler won the toss at last, having lost it all three times before today in this series, and England are bowling first. India have brought back Rinku Singh and Arshdeep Singh for Dhruv Jurel and Mohammed Shami respectively and added Shivam Dube to provide some firepower in the middle order in place of Washington Sundar.
This series has been a battle between India's spinners and England's pacers, with batters on both sides blowing hot and cold. India won the first battle emphatically, then just about managed to keep England out in the second thanks to Tilak Varma. In the third, though, even a five-wicket haul from Varun Chakravarthy was not enough for them to avoid defeat. England seem to have got increasingly better at winning in these conditions in their own way as the series progressed and so India would know that they have their task cut out as far as keeping their lead goes for the rest of this series.
Some of India's batters will be under the spotlight today, particularly openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Both their positions are set to be threatened by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill whenever they return to the T20 fold. Samson had done more than enough to get an extended run in the position thanks to his three centuries in four innings before this series. Here, though, he seems to have been completely found out by Jofra Archer and Co. Abhishek Sharma played a blinder in the first T20I but wasn't able to make much of an impact in the second and third matches.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav fell for a two-ball duck in the first T20I and then couldn't capitalise on starts in the second and third. In his last six innings, he has scored just 52 runs. This is the first time that he has gone six innings without a fifty in T20Is. However, assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate has indicated that India are not too bothered by this as this sort of a run is bound to come when batters stick to a high-risk approach.
"Someone like Surya has set such high standards [set] by himself, and I wouldn't say consistency or predictability is a particularly high marker in T20 cricket," ten Doeschate said. "The job we ask from these guys is to go out and score really quickly and the way the international T20 game has gone, we are allowed for a bit of consistency and a lean patch like he is going through at the moment."
England's ploy of throwing the kitchen sink at the Indian bowlers, particularly the spinners, almost worked at the Chepauk in the second T20I. The fact remains that they would have probably stuck to that tactic in Rajkot for the third T20I even if it hadn't worked at all in Chennai. Such is the Bazball way. They have their task cut out for them, though - in India they are facing a side who have won 15 of the 18 T20Is they have played since they won the 2024 T20 World Cup. India are also unbeaten in their last 17 T20I series at home, with their last defeat being a 2-0 loss to Australia in February 2019.

India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India's spin-heavy bowling lineup
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Throughout this series, India have used just one proper frontline pacer with Hardik Pandya sharing new ball duties. The rest have all been spinners.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Weather check
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: It's all clear in Pune. The day was warm, with the temperature reached 34 degrees celsius. However, it is expected to be pretty cool at night, with the temperature even expected to drop to 10 degrees celsius.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India's middle-over power play
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Now India have ditched all kinds of worrries for some heavy duty attacking batting and while that has resulted in the batters not geting too many big scores in this series, their strike rates suffered only in the third T20I. Which means despite being strangled by Rashid in the middle overs in Rajkot, India's strike rate of 9.45 in this period remains the highest among full member nations.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Fifth time a T20I will be played in Pune
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Just four T20Is have been player here thus far and three of those have been against Sri Lanka, one against England. Sri Lanka beat India here in February 2016 and January 2023 while India beat England in the first-ever T20I played at this ground in December 2012.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Phil Salt fails to fire in India
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Salt's big hits were a big reason behind KKR's title win last season and so it is quite intriguing that he hasn't really fired in this series thus far. He did come into this series in good form as well, scoring 103 and a 55 against West Indies in the Caribbean. But his three outings in this series have yielded 0, 4 and 5, even if he hasn't really looked out of touch.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Scenes from the eve of the match
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: The BCCI posted a video which had some valuable footage from the team's practice session, interspersed with Abhishek Nayar saying some very generic things like it's been "exciting" and we could have a "good competitive game of cricket".
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Arshdeep Singh close to 100
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: If he does play today, Arshdeep could become the first Indian to get 100 T20I wickets. Arshdeep sits on 98 wickets in 98 wickets in 62 matches and if he gets there today, he could break Haris Rauf's record for fastest to 100 T20I wickets
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Will Arshdeep Singh be back?
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Suryakumar Yadav had said that Arshdeep Singh had been “rested” for the third T20I, which allowed Mohammed Shami to make his comeback. It remains to be seen if this “rest” period is going to continue today as well. If it doesn't, then India will have to either drop Shami or abandon their four-spinner strategy.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: England get their tactics right
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: They looked completely at sea in the first T20I but England have walked the talk thus far in this tour. They have continued to attack the Indian bowlers and hoped for the best. While there were some alarming collapses, England were bailed out in the second and third T20I (although they ultimately lost the former) by some valuable lower order contributions. After that, India's shaky batting lineup hasn't really been able to dominate the English bowlers the way they did in the first T20I. The pacers' tactic of bowling short and fast and Buttler's usage of Rashid has paid dividends.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Suryakumar Yadav's downturn
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Suryakumar Yadav is one of two captains India have, the other being Rohit Sharma for Tests and ODIs, and both are not having a great time of it at the moment. SKY is probably in a better place because, at least for now, his team is winning. But his scores since the T20 World Cup are not the kind you would associate Suryakumar Yadav with. They have read 21(17), 4(9), 1(4) and DNB in South Africa; 0(3), 12(7) and 14(7).
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: What the Indian coaching staff thinks about batters' inconsistency
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Ryan Ten Doeschate said that the Indian think tank is aware that the high-risk approach the batters take does result in them going on lean runs at times. While talking about Suryakumar Yadav specifically, he said: "I wouldn't say that consistency or predictability is a particularly high mark in T20 cricket. The way the international T20 game has gone, we allow for a bit of inconsistency and a bit of a lean patch like he's going through at the moment. "Gauti (coach Gautam Gambhir) is very keen to back these guys and give them a long road, a long chance to prove themselves."
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: A high-scoring game to be expected?
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Judging how IPL matches have gone at this ground, we should be getting a high-scoring game. However, we could say the same for the last three matches in this series as well and still the highest team score thus far has been just 171.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Adil Rashid chokes India out
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Jamie Overton got as many wickets in the third T20I as Adil Rashid has got throughout this series but it is the latter's spell that was the reason for England winning that match. Rashid took one wicket and conceded just 15 runs in his four overs in Rajkot with the Indian batters not being able to hit a boundary of any kind against him throughout the night.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: The unbeatable Varun Chakravarthy
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Varun Chakaravarthy is averaging 8.5 with the ball in this series and he has picked an astonishing 10 wickets thus far. He had taken a total of 17 wickets in seven matches that he played throughout last year and Chakravarthy has already taken more than half of that number in his first three matches of this year. It is quite an extraordinary turnaround for a player whose woeful numbers in 2021 - two wickets in six matches at an average of 66 - had resulted in him missing out on 2 years of international cricket.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Rinku Singh set to return?
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Ryan Ten Doeschate said that Rinku batted on Thursday and is fit. "Rinku Singh is fit. He will be ready to go tomorrow," said the Dutchman. That is probably the run that Dhruv Jurel got in the lower middle-order.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Hardik Pandya chasing down Yuzvendra Chahal
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Yuzvendra Chahal was overtaken as India's all-time highest T20I wicket-taker in the first match of the series by Arshdeep Singh. Now he could be pushed down to third spot in that list of Hardik Pandya gets three wickets today. Pandya currently sits on 94 wickets in 112 matches while Chahal has 96 in 80. Arshdeep, who sits above them both, has 98 wickets in just 62 matches. Pandya is also India's sixth highest run scorer in the format with 1750 runs at an average of 27.77 and strike rate of 140.78.
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: England full squad
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Philip Salt, Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler(c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Smith(w), Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Saqib Mahmood, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Rehan Ahmed
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India full squad
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Sanju Samson(w), Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Dhruv Jurel, Mohammed Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: Hello and welcome!
India vs England 4th T20I LIVE SCORE: India were dominant in the first T20I, then England got closer in the second and then got a win outright in the third. If the whole series follows this trend then England are set for a big win today and an even bigger win in the last match. India are unbeaten in home T20I series since 2019 but an even longer and stronger Test streak was recently broken in an emphatic way. A loss in this T20I series will be nothing short of an unmitigated disaster for Gautam Gambhir and his coaching staff. But, it will take a lot for England to do that. England have been unbeaten at home for more than half a decade for a reason. And that reason is quite simple - they have been very, very, very good and they have found a way to win no matter what.
