The Indian cricket board’s disciplinary committee has deferred its decision on tainted players Ajit Chandila --- who was arrested in the 2013 spot-fixing case --- and Hiken Shah till January 5.
Both the players appeared before the panel comprising Board president Shashank Manohar, Niranjan Shah and Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday. The two were given time until January 4 to give their written replies to the questions posed to them.
Speaking to the media after the hearing, Chandila said he gave his version to the committee. “The new disciplinary committee members asked me the same questions the Delhi police did. I have said whatever I told the Delhi Police. Everyone knows what the court has said. I hope I will get justice from this new committee. I don’t know when the verdict will be given,” he said.
Chandila, 32, and Rajasthan Royals team-mates S Sreesanth and Ankit Chavan were arrested by the Delhi Police in May 2013 for allegedly trying to spot-fix IPL games. Sreesanth and Chavan were subsequently banned for life by the BCCI.
Shah, 31, on the other hand, has been accused of making an approach to his colleague in first-class cricket, who was also a member of an IPL team. The approached player reported it to his IPL team, which passed on the information to the Board’s anti-corruption unit.

{{/usCountry}}The Board has also sent a notice to Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf in connection with the spot-fixing case. Like Chandila and Shah, Rauf too has been asked to respond to charges levelled against him.
Rauf has been charge-sheeted in the spot-fixing case. However, he has claimed innocence and has not visited India since.
