VisakhapatnamFast bowler Jasprit Bumrah joined the India team practice here on Tuesday and bowled for a long time at nets.
He went full tilt—and though there is no official word from the team management—seems to have made a full recovery from the stress fracture that ruled him out of cricket after the tour of West Indies in September.
Prithvi Shaw, the young Mumbai opener who recently finished serving an eight-month doping ban, was also present at the stadium, and was seen speaking to Team India’s trainer Nick Webb.
The team management had called Bumrah and Shaw to assess their fitness.
Both Bumrah and Shaw are expected to be part of the Test squad for the tour of New Zealand next February.
Shaw’s emphatic comeback
Shaw, whose ban ended in November, made an emphatic comeback earlier this month with a first-class double century for Mumbai.
Unlike Bumrah, who was in full training gear, Shaw was in casuals when he showed up at the stadium Tuesday afternoon.
He spent some time talking to Webb before taking part in an impromptu fielding drill conducted by the team’s fielding coach R Sridhar.
At the nets outside the stadium, Bumrah sweated it out beside Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar at the optional training that most batsmen did not show up for.
