Give them an inch and they'll snatch a mile. Karnataka proved it as they bounced back in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal game here in great style. At 152 for no loss — and with the greats of Karnataka cricket scurrying about the stadium complex in amazement — Haryana had every chance to shut their opponents out.
Both Rahul Dewan (101) and Nitin Saini had helped Haryana to a one-run lead, but just then their march to hell began. Stuart Binny triggered it, paceman NC Aiyappa built on it and spinners brought it to a close.
There was a brief resistance from skipper Amit Mishra (49), who added 74 with Mohit Sharma (32), which saved Haryana the blushes.

They managed a 121-run lead, which is big but not enough considering Karnataka's aggressive batting line-up. Hosts were 122 for 3 at stumps and a cameo from Robin Uthappa (53 off 46 balls) had wiped out the deficit.
Brief scores: Karnataka 151 & 122/3 (R Uthappa 53, S Rana 2-18) v Harayana 272 (R Dewan 101, N Saini 69, S Binny 4-54, N Aiyappa 3-70).
