Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria on Saturday filed a court petition against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not letting him play international cricket despite being cleared in a spot-fixing case.
Kaneria has not been considered for Test selection for last eight months now because an integrity committee of the PCB is not satisfied by the clearance from his county team in England -- Essex.
"I have been dealing with the PCB over my clearance since last October but have failed to get justice from them," said Kaneria.
The 30-year-old Pakistani spinner and fellow Essex bowler Mervyn Westfield were arrested by Essex police for alleged spot-fixing in Essex's Pro40 match against Durham last September.
However, Kaneria was later released without being charged but Westfield faces criminal proceedings.
Despite being released in November last year, the PCB stopped Kaneria from going to United Arab Emirates to play a Test series for Pakistan against South Africa without giving a valid reason.
He was not selected on the grounds of not being cleared by the PCB committee.
"I have committed no crime and that's why Essex police and my county have cleared me in that spot-fixing case. I have now come to the legal system and I hope to see justice will be done here," Kaneria, who has taken 261 wickets in 61 Tests, and 15 wickets in 18 ODIs, said.
The first hearing of the petition will take place on July 4.
