Lalit Modi removed as Rajasthan Cricket Association president

In a major jolt to Lalit Modi, 23 districts on Saturday moved a no-confidence motion against him and removed him as the president of RCA. The motion was also brought against three other members of Modi's faction.

In a major jolt to Lalit Modi, 23 districts on Saturday moved a no-confidence motion against him and removed him as the president of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). The motion was also brought against the deputy president, secretary and treasurer of the body.

Amin Pathak has been elected as the new RCA president.

RCA comprises 33 district associations. Twenty-three out of these today called a meeting at a hotel in Jaipur and decided to remove the four officials from their positions in RCA. Amin Pathak said, "After Lalit Modi was elected the president, cricketing activities in the state had come to a standstill. Therefore, we decided to meet and bring a no-confidence motion against him."

The meeting removed deputy president Mehmood M Abdi, secretary Somendra Tiwari and treasurer Pawan Goyal, apart from the president Modi.

Soon, the BCCI suspended RCA from its membership pending disciplinary proceedings against Modi on charges of misconduct.
