Lalit Modi, former commissioner of the domestic T20 league, can contest the Rajasthan Cricket Academy (RCA) polls slated for December 19, principal observer of the RCA elections NM Kasliwal said on Wednesday.
In response to the decision, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) once again warned of cancelling RCA’s membership.
Banned for life by the BCCI on charges of misconduct and indiscipline, Modi has filed his nomination for the RCA president post.
Kasliwal, a retired Supreme Court judge, dismissed objections raised against Modi’s candidature by Rampal Sharma, the top post nominee of the faction supporting incumbent RCA president CP Joshi.
Mehmood Abdi, Modi’s advocate and Sriganganagar Cricket Association president, said Kasliwal had cleared the names of Modi as well as Alwar District Cricket Association secretary Pawan Goyal.
“We have support of 27 of the 29 districts... We will register a comfortable victory,” Abdi said.
The BCCI on Wednesday sent a fresh mail to Joshi, blaming RCA for letting Modi contest the polls.
“Unless you follow the rules and regulations of BCCI, you will stand to lose your very right of membership of BCCI, including the right to send players representing your state association for BCCI-conducted tournaments,” board secretary Sanjay Patel said in the mail.

Abdi said, “The mails are sponsored by Joshi. BCCI should write to Kasliwal instead of RCA.”
