Former India bowling coach Joe Dawes has broken his silence over his unceremonious exit. The former Queensland quick told The Courier Mail in Brisbane that the language barrier with the Indian players was cited as the reason by the BCCI for terminating his contract, which was supposed to run till the 2015 World Cup.
"They (BCCI) thought there was a language barrier issue," Dawes said. "But I had things in place to assist me with that. I have a very simple grasp of Hindi but cricket is also a universal language. I would use either the manager or one of the bowlers who spoke English to communicate."
Dawes also said that he used to take help from lanky pacer Ishant Sharma to communicate with other Indian players.
''I would use Ishant Sharma all the time because he spoke good English. I would always make sure he was around to give me a hand. At the end of the day, they sent me for a rest while they had a think about which direction they wanted to head in. There has been a big push in India to get local Indian coaches in," added Dawes.
Dawes, along with fielding coach Trevor Penney, were asked to rest following the 3-1 drubbing India received at the hands of hosts England in the five-Test series. The duo was replaced by Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar for the ODIs in England.

{{/usCountry}}The BCCI had then given an option to Dawes and Penny either to terminate their contract and seek compensation as per the exit clause or report to the National Cricket Academy if they wished to continue.
Speaking on his future plans, Dawes said he would love to be involved with the Australian team in a coaching position if the situation arises.
