Sri Lanka thrashed South Africa by 87 runs to finish fifth in the ICC Women's World Cup here.

Batting first at the Barabati Stadium, Sri Lanka put up a decent score of 243 for seven in stipulated 50 overs with useful contributions from the middle-order.

In reply, South Africa were bundled out for a paltry 156 in only 40.1 overs with off-spinner Shashikala Siriwardene picking up four for 32.

Among the Lankan batswomen, Chamari Atapattu was the top-scorer with a patient 52 off 106 balls.

FIFA wants biological passports for 2014 WC
Lausanne: Every player at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be required to have a biological passport, the sport's world governing body Fifa announced.

Fifa intend to introduce the system of biological profiling at this year's Confederations Cup in Brazil, as part of the worldwide crackdown on doping in sport. A delegation from the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) met Fifa officials. Wada president John Fahey said that Fifa is developing plans to introduce profiling, including a steroid profile through urine and a blood profile where tests would be conducted on all participating players.
