Observing that Australian pacers put up a defensive show in Mohali Test, Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson has advised Brett Lee to be "sensibly aggressive" and use bouncers to intimidate Indian batsmen.

The former Australian fast bowler said Lee needed to find other ways to succeed on India's unresponsive pitches because he does not deliver the ball from a high trajectory.

"He (Lee) needs to be a foot taller. They are flat wickets, he slides on, and he is not doing anything much with it," he said.

Lawson said he failed understand why the Australian quicks, excepting Peter Siddle, did not try short-pitched bowling.

"It was a different game when India was bowling, a different ball and a different pitch. They (the Australians) were very defensive. They need to be more aggressive with the ball. I was amazed in the second innings that they didn't seem to bowl a bouncer in the first five overs," he said.

"He hooks and cuts in the air, that is how you get him out in one-day cricket, and I don't see why Test cricket would be any different," he was quoted in the local media here.

"It doesn't mean you bowl bouncers all the time and it doesn't mean you bowl them waist-high, but you need to bowl some head-high bouncers with the new ball. It's being sensibly aggressive" he added.
