Selectors have once again shown faith in lanky Punjab wrist-spinner Rahul Sharma for the limited overs leg of India's tour of Australia. India are scheduled to play two T20Is against their hosts followed by an ODI tri-series that also involves Sri Lanka.
Sharma, who is currently training at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, is hoping to pick up some pointers from India's most successful spinner Anil Kumble.
“I know how important the tour is, both for the country and also for me, so I hope to get some insight from him about bowling Down Under.
“I hope to meet him on Monday and get some tips from him, and will also ask him to watch me bowl at the nets. His advice could go a long way in helping me understand the conditions there,” he said.
Impressive show
Sharma, who has been on the selectors’ radar ever since a fruitful outing at the IPL last year, impressed one and all with his performance in the home series against West Indies late last year, picking up four wickets in two ODIs.
“I am raring to go to Australia, and if given a chance, will do my best,” said Sharma, who was scheduled to take part in the emerging players’ tournament held in Australia last August, but was forced to sit out due to an injury just before the start of the tournament.

{{/usCountry}}“It was frustrating, but as a bowler you have to learn to adapt fast whatever be the conditions. In the days ahead, I will concentrate on my strengths while sticking to my basics,” said Sharma.
