Electing to field, the Lions decided to go for the kill straight away pressing Andrew Hall and Daryl Tuffey into service and the result was there or all to see with opposition opener and skipper Nathan Astle walking back for four. A fuller delivery by Tuffey saw the batsman loft the ball to cover where T.P. Singh made no mistake.

That started the rot for the Mumbai Champs as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. The situation got so bad for the Champs that at one stage their scoreboard read 36-4.

Finally, it was left to the Champs local hero, Kiran Powar to stall the fall. He batted on scoring an unbeaten 45 of 42 balls. The loose balls went past he boundary while the others paved the way for singles. But, his efforts proved futile as the other batsmen walked back the soon they came. Their final score 135 for 6 with the bulk of scoring coming off Powar's bat.

Mumbai Champs 135/6 in 20 overs (Powar 45n.o) lost to Chandigarh Lions 137 for 8 in 19.4 overs (Sarabjeet 41n.o.)
