South Africa chose to bat in the second of the Test matches at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. South Africa are struggling having already lost half their batting line-up with a relatively low score. This is despite a solid partnership between Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla earlier in the day. A 74-run partnership between Chris Morris and Vernon Philander took them above 300 as the day came to a close. James Anderson also became the first fast bowler to scalp 300 wickets on home soil.
