Commentary

3:43 PM IST Right then, another match has been called off in Florida and it is a pity that we haven't seen any form of cricket at this lovely ground. However, nothing can be done when the rain gods had other ideas, and the points will be shared which doesn't really affect any of the teams here. India will now focus on the Super-8 stages while Canada take away a lot of positives from this World Cup campaign. The action does not stop here as we have a crucial game coming up between England and Namibia that holds huge importance in that group. That encounter will begin in a short while, and you can just switch tabs to enjoy all the coverage. Cheers!
3:36 PM IST UPDATE - 9.05 pm IST (3.35 pm GMT) - Well, the unfortunate has happened, and the match has been abandoned. The Umpires came out for an inspection and they were still not pleased with the conditions of the outfield. After chatting with the match referee, the match has been officially called off without the Toss. The players from both sides shake hands. As a result, India and Canada both share a point each and with that, both teams end their league phase here.
2:39 PM IST UPDATE - 8.09 pm IST (2.39 pm GMT) - The umpires were out in the middle but looking at the visuals, it looked like they are still not convinced by the conditions of the outfield. There will be another inspection at 9 pm IST (3.30 pm GMT). So, the waiting game continues.
1:56 PM IST UPDATE - The sky is gloomy once again in Florida and there was a bit of drizzle earlier as well. We can see the covers are on and there are a few damp areas in the outfield as well. As a result, the toss has been delayed and the umpires will have an inspection at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Stay tuned for more updates.
1:36 PM IST Canada, meanwhile, is officially knocked out of the tournament, but they did shine brightly against Ireland. With two losses on their record, there's certainly a need for improvement. Opener Aaron Johnson has been impressive, but Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton need to be more consistent to bolster the top order. All-rounder and skipper Saad Bin Zafar has been effective with the ball and has contributed some key hits with the bat. Their pace attack, led by Dilon Heyliger and Jeremy Gordon, has been consistently taking wickets and has been particularly impressive. The forecast however hasn't been very favorable due to heavy rains around and we are hopeful to get a complete uninterrupted game. With India holding a tremendous winning record at Lauderhill, will the Men in Blue continue on the merry way? Or will Canada shock the world? Stay tuned for the toss and team updates.
1:31 PM IST India has been crushing it in the tournament, kicking things off by taking down Ireland, then scoring a big win against Pakistan, and defeating the USA. With three straight wins and a track record of making it to the tough stages in major tournaments, India might try out and test its bench strength and also does have a few wrinkles to iron out as well. Virat Kohli’s form has been a bit of a worry lately, but everyone knows he’s a beast when it comes to making epic comebacks. Rishabh Pant has been carrying the team with his batting, and with Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube finding their groove again, India's batting lineup looks rock solid. Surprisingly, Ravindra Jadeja has not been utilized yet in the tournament so far, and would be interesting to see if he gets to roll his arm with the ball. Jasprit Bumrah has lived up to the expectations and led the bowling attack showing remarkable consistency along with Arshdeep Singh. Axar Patel has responded brilliantly to his role as a floater with the bat and has also excelled with the ball. While Hardik Pandya didn’t do much with the bat, but he’s a huge asset for the team as the fourth seamer.
