The BCCI has been averse to Lorgat’s appointment since the beginning and things could take a turn for the worse in future with the announcement made public.

CSA president Chris Nenzani confirmed the appointment to a cricket website and said, “Mr Lorgat’s appointment follows a thorough and rigorous process to fill this important position.”

The Indian board has had some disagreements with the CSA, of late, after the former red-flagged the itinerary announced by South Africa. The issue is already under deliberation after the BCCI expressed concern over the schedule. Lorgat’s appointment may further strain the situation.

While interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya did not wish to comment on the former ICC CEO’s appointment, beleaguered president N Srinivasan, who according to the South Africa media was the first to congratulate Lorgat on his appointment, dodged the question saying he is on leave from the functioning of the board.
