11:42 AM IST Brisbane Heat were short of runs but still had enough to fight with. They started well with the ball but once it got soft, they failed to pick any wickets. Apart from Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson, all of them leaked runs. Paul Walter mainly who gave too many. Credit to Melbourne Stars, they read the pitch well and used the conditions appropriately. In the later half of the first innings, the pitch got flat and Max Bryant made the most of it but overall it got tough for Brisbane Heat to defend the total.
11:39 AM IST Finally, a W for Melbourne Stars and they have opened their account this season. Marcus Stoinis as a captain also gets the first win under his name. A much needed win and their skipper led from the front. Coming in at 14/3, Marcus Stoinis had to watch out for the swing, juicy bounce and he played sensibly along with Lawrence. Both took their time to build the innings but once the ball got old, they started to fire all cylinders. The duo added 100 runs with both hitting fifties and did the job for the team. Marcus Stoinis fell but Dan Lawrence hung in there to do the job.
