The left-arm paceman though will continue to ply his trade in foreign T20 leagues. He has been a part of several Indian Premier League franchises over the years and appeared for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 edition. He had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2015, just months after winning the ICC World Cup with the Australian team.

“The intensity and length of the BBL is just too much for someone who will be 37 at the start of the summer,” Johnson’s manager, Sam Halvorsen, told The West Australian newspaper.

Johnson was a key figure of the Australian bowling attack during his 73-match Test career, in which he picked up 313 wickets. He has 123 wickets under his belt in his 112-match T20 career.
