Indian women’s cricket ace Mithali Raj is well known for her exploits on the field, as she has made her mark as one of the finest players to have played the game ever. Along with being a legendary athlete, she is also known for having a strong personality. She rarely minces her words on social media while giving her views on a range of topics.
An active twitter user, Mithali recently posted a message wishing fellow Indians on the occasion of the country’s 72nd Independence Day. She wrote, “Wishing India, freedom from hunger, poverty, discrimination, sexism, abuse & greed. We have had 72 years to build ourselves in the manner we want to be defined. Are we close? Lives were lost so we could breathe free. Let’s honour those sacrifices. Jai Hind. ”
A twitter user though decided to troll her by pointing out that her message had come a little late, since it was past mid-night. Not one to take such taunts lying down, Mithali decided to shut him down by in style. She wrote, “I’m honored that you think I’m a celebrity. I’m merely an athlete on national duty since 1999. We have the challengers trophy going on and I don’t have the phone with me on the field or off it on Match days. Hope that’s a good enough reason for the delay? Happy Independence Day.”
