Issuing the summon on a PIL filed by a society named ‘We the people’, a division bench of acting Chief Justice, Amitava Lala and Justice Anil Kumar, fixed April 21 for the next hearing of the case.

The PIL had claimed that neither can DLF be permitted to use India in its official logo nor can it depict `India' on the cricket pitch for the purpose of advertisement as it was against the nation's honour.

The PIL says that players are trampling on 'India' during the course of play. “In such circumstances, the players, match officials and grounds men cannot be permitted to walk over the place or land where the name of our country `India' is engraved or depicted," stressed the PIL. Citing the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 and the Prevention of Insults To National Honour Act, 1971, it had urged that the use of ‘India’ was improper.
