Moody's comment follows Chappell's recent decision to step down as India's coach after their failed World Cup campaign in the West Indies, says reports.

"He (had) arguably ... the toughest coaching job in world cricket. The expectation of over a billon people would be a huge weight on anyone's shoulders," Moody said.

He felt that Chappell did a good job with India.

"Personally, I felt Greg had done a good job with the Indian side. They lost a couple of games and suddenly his tenure is finished, but he's got a lot to offer to the game whether it's in a coaching role or a consultancy role," he said.

"I'm sure someone in world cricket will take advantage of his vast experience and knowledge and wherever he takes that I'm sure people will benefit."

India exit in the first round of the World Cup after they were defeated by Bangladesh and then beaten by Sri Lanka in their final match in Trinidad, lead to Greg resigning.

He took up the post in June 2005.
