Soon after assuming charge as board president, Shashank Manohar had a few matters to clear. One of the issues that almost stopped the functioning of the BCCI was that pertaining to N Srinivasan’s participation in BCCI meetings due to conflict of interest, which the former board chief had contested. After the Supreme Court verdict on October 5, leaving it to the board to decide whether it wanted to allow Srinivasan to attend meetings or not, the BCCI decided to keep him out.
With the issue sorted out, the BCCI now plans to convene its postponed working committee meeting in Mumbai on October 17 or 18. It is learnt that the meeting is being convened to clear the way for the Annual General Meeting, delayed from its usual September slot. The BCCI annually convenes the last working committee meeting before the AGM to ratify financial transactions and audit and accounts besides all pending matters of the year, to place them before the AGM for approval.
The four-member working group’s report on the roadmap for conducting the IPL will figure prominently in the Mumbai meeting.
In its last meeting held in August, the IPL Governing Council had recommended having two new teams for the next two editions of the league to maintain an eight-team field. Other than the recommendations of the Lodha committee, the key points the adjourned Kolkata meeting was to discuss were the National Cricket Academy committee recommendations on whether to run the NCA out of Bangalore or relocate it, discuss the affiliation status of Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Manipur as well as technical committee recommendations. All these reports will be tabled in the working committee.

The delay meant a number of contracts could not be renewed. After conducting the last working committee of the year, it becomes mandatory for the Board to convene the AGM after giving a 21-day notice to all participating associations. According to officials, the AGM is likely to be held in Mumbai on November 8 or 9.
