Though no official reason was given for Tendulkar’s withdrawal, it is understood that the 36-year-old, originally named to play for India Blue has sought rest. He suffered food poisoning during the Champions Trophy. He subsequently had a fall following a black-out in the hotel room.

Mukund was the only centurion in the October 1-5 Irani Cup, scoring 126 for the ROI against Mumbai. There have been some changes to the squads, with Tamil Nadu’s S. Badrinath named to lead India Red in place of the injured Yuvraj Singh. Badrinath moves from India Green to Red.

Irfan Pathan, who withdrew from the ROI squad for Irani Cup for lack of match practice and not being in the ‘right frame’, has withdrawn from the India Green and has been replaced by Himachal Pradesh’s Vikramjit Singh Malik.
