Nursing an Achilles tendon injury, Mills missed the Twenty20 series against India, which New Zealand won 2-0.

"I didn't play the Twenty20s but sitting back watching it I thought, 'Man, this is a handy side we've got'," Mills was quoted as saying in the Dominion Post.

"And just walking back into the squad there is a nice feel about things. There is some confidence about, everyone is doing their job and it just feels good," he added.

Mills was inducted in the team, thanks to an impressive show against Australia in the Chappell-Hadlee series Down Under.

The pacer said if the Kiwis can wrest the initiative by winning the first ODI tomorrow, they can well dominate the series.

"We want to put New Zealand on the map and winning the Twenty20 series was a good start. Hopefully we can go 1-0 up in Napier and then just continue on through the one-dayers and the test matches.
