Modi, in a statement, has denied doing so. “Media reports stating that the IPL is threatening to tear up contracts of overseas players are absolutely untrue and baseless,” said Modi. “The IPL has NOCs from home boards, which was done to protect the FTP. This year a part of the IPL overlaps with domestic tournaments and given that this is a one-off situation, we will be considerate.”

The last round of the Australia’s domestic competition, the Sheffield Shield, clash with the IPL.

The Australian newspaper reported that Modi respected players’ commitments to their countries but wont’ mind if they skip domestic duties for IPL.

The report quotes Modi as saying extreme action could be taken but hoped a solution will be worked out.
