The 10 IPL franchisees will have to wait till the first week of September to know the exact format of IPL IV in 2011.
There has been considerable debate over whether the number of matches in the fourth season, now standing at 94, would somehow be reduced.
The Governing Council did not discuss the issue on Friday and only deliberated on the accounts for the year 2008-09.
“The format will come up for discussion in the next meeting in September,” said vice-chairman Niranjan Shah.
The BCCI suffered a deficit of R 39 crore for 2009-10 season after deducting R 202 crore distributed to 25 state associations and each association was likely to get at least Rs 6 crore.
“The loss is due to shifting IPL 2 to South Africa. R 50 crore was spend on the conduct of tournament and R 33 crore on hospitality and promotion,” said a Board member on condition of anonymity.
Yousuf may be asked to reimburse
Another issue that was discussed at the meeting was the R 1 crore paid to Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf.
BCCI had paid Yousuf the above amount at the behest of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who were keen to ensure that the middle order batsman severs ties with the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL). However, ICL went to court and Yousuf was not picked up by any IPL franchisee, following which the player opted to play for the rebel league for two years.

Though he was not willing to divulge the details of the discussion, sources said that some members were of the view that the Board should write to PCB asking it to reimburse the amount from the player.
Airtel wins sponsorship rights
BCCI Marketing Committee also granted the Indian cricket team’s home series sponsorship rights to telecom giant Airtel for a period of three years (2010-2013). Airtel will pay R 3.33 crore per match.
