"Cricket has lost another valuable asset," chairman PCB Ijaz Butt said in a statement Monday. "Khan Mohammad was Pakistan's outstanding fast bowler of the 1950s."

Mohammad, who played in Pakistan's first test against India in 1952, later lived in England.

His death leaves only Hanif Mohammad, Imtiaz Ahmed and Waqar Hasan as Pakistan's survivors from that 1952 test match at New Delhi.

Khan Mohammad formed Pakistan's successful pace attack with Fazal Mahmood and took 54 wickets in just 13 test matches at an impressive average of 23.92.

He took Pakistan's first wicket in test cricket when he bowled Pankaj Roy round his legs for seven.
