The visitors' competitive total looked unlikely after losing their second and third wickets for only 17 runs, and then being reduced to 55-6 despite electing to bat first.

But Pollard, who hit a towering six to get to 99, notched his century with a single on his next ball in the second-last over to complete his second one-day 100 against Australia.

Australia clinched the five-match series 3-0 with a 39-run win Wednesday in Canberra. The series concludes Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
