The fixing storm that’s raging across the cricket world has put the organizers of the Champions League T20 on their guard. The tournament, coming as it does close on the heels of the shocking London revelations, will be keenly watched for how vigilant it is against the menace.
“There’s no doubt we need to be far more alert and careful following what has transpired in the last couple of days. The security and anti-corruption units monitoring the event will certainly be on high alert,” said Niranjan Shah, a senior member of the CLT20 governing council.
Apart from the widespread rumours that cash-rich T20 tournaments are an irresistible temptation to the bookies, the claims made by Mazhar Majeed, in a sting operation carried out by British Tabloid News of the World, will bring these tournaments in sharp focus.
“The Twenty20s are the easiest. I'll tell you how many minimum runs bowlers are going to concede, and, as for batsmen, I’m going to tell you they're going to waste two, three overs,” Majeed said while talking to an under cover reporter.
Shah, however, sounded confident about the measures they have in place to keep the menace at arm’s length.

{{/usCountry}}“We will have the same anti-corruption measures in place as in international fixtures. In this case, the only difference is that we will pay for the service provided by the ICC,” said Shah.
The league has provisions to slap penalties ranging from two-year bans to a life ban on players entering into gambling or any financial speculation or attempting to contrive the result of a match.
