Singh, who was today appointed India's fielding coach at the two-day BCCI Working Committee meeting in Mumbai, said the team was not doing well in recent times as far as fielding is concerned.
"I am really elated being appointed as fielding coach. The Indian team has not been one of the good fielding sides. I am confident on improving fielding standards to match the top two teams in the world on a longer term," he said.
"I am happy to be involved with the Indian cricket team of which I had been a member for a long time," he said.
