Rohit Sharma is set to become the first Indian cricket team player to throw the ceremonial ‘First Pitch’ during a baseball match in the United States of America.
Rohit, who led Mumbai Indians in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), will be doing the honours for American Major League baseball (MLB) club Seattle Mariners at their home ground of Safeco Field around 1am IST on Sunday.

It will be a part of a pre-game activity ahead of Seattle’s match against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Baseball clubs in America always had a historic ritual of inviting a guest of honour to throw out a ceremonial first pitch to mark the start of the game.

Rohit Sharma is currently on a three-city US tour and will be visiting San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Los Angeles where the Indian cricketer will participate in a series of cricket clinics besides meeting fans.
Regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen in limited-overs cricket, Rohit is the only player to have scored three double tons in ODIs. He was the skipper for Mumbai Indians this season, but was unable to produce impressive knocks.
