For the first time after his return from the West Indies, Sachin Tendulkar had nets at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s ground in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Tendulkar was accompanied by Ajit Agarkar.

The two Mumbaikars are likely to be seen in action during Mumbai’s Twenty20 campaign, which begins on Sunday. They could also be preparing for the Bangladesh tour next month, irrespective of their selection prospects. This is not Tendulkar’s first-ever nets at BKC. He has been there umpteen times, but after the widespread condemnation of the team and the senior players, this particular session attracted special interest.

Tendulkar does not dwell in the past. The man with the most runs and the most centuries in international cricket moves on in life. Agarkar and he spent around 90 minutes in the afternoon at the BKC even as Indian Oil were making merry in the Times Shield final on the adjacent pitch.

Neither Tendulkar nor Agarkar talked to the handful of journalists present at the venue. “We are not supposed to talk to the media,” they said.

He slowly reversed his red BMW and drove away with two security personnel accompanying him.
