Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal win Sachin Tendulkar’s praise after India win series vs SA
Sachin Tendulkar praised the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal after the Indian cricket team clinched the ODI series against South Africa in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.
The Indian cricket team made history on Tuesday, defeating South Africa by 73 runs in the fifth ODI at Port Elizabeth to record their first-ever ODI series win on the soil of the Rainbow Nation.
A host of cricketers, both from present and past, took to Twitter to hail Virat Kohli & Co’s unprecedented achievement. Leading the tributes was ‘master blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar who made a special reference to the efforts of wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Yadav and Chahal have been the chief architects of India’s series victory as the duo have claimed a total of 30 wickets between them so far. While left-arm Chinaman bowler Kuldeep has scalped 16 wickets at an astonishing average of 11.56, leggie Chahal has accounted for 14 dismissals with an equally impressive average of 16.00.
The little master also praised fellow Mumbaikar Rohit Sharma who scored a match-winning hundred to walk away with the man-of-the match award on Tuesday.
Batting first, India posted 274/7, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 126-ball 115 which was studded with 11 fours and four maximums. The hosts, in reply, were bundled out for only 201 in 42.2 overs with Kuldeep scything through their batting to claim figures of 4-57 from his quota of 10 overs. Chahal and Hardik Pandya chipped in with two wickets each.
Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina, Aakash Chopra and VVS Laxman were among other members of cricket fraternity who also hailed and congratulated Team India’s series clinching victory on the micro blogging site.
The last match of the series would be played at Super Sport Park in Centurion on Friday.
