Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir file appeals against ban

Lawyers acting for Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir have filed appeals to the Court of Arbitration of Sport against their clients' five-year bans for spot-fixing.

Lawyers acting for Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir have filed appeals to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) against their clients' five-year bans for spot-fixing.

In a statement issued through his lawyer Yasin Patel, Butt, who received a further five-year suspended ban, also says he will appear in the Britain's Crown Prosecution Service on Mar. 17 to face criminal charges.

Fast bowler Mohammad Asif was handed a seven-year ban with two suspended, while Amir was banned for five years after an ICC tribunal found them guilty of bowling no-balls at prearranged times during the fourth test against England in August. Amir's lawyer Karim says "we have challenged the judgment of the tribunal on various grounds."
