Shaun Marsh was perhaps the biggest success story of IPL I. He arrived as the son of former Australia opener, Geoff Marsh, but became a household name by the time he went back.
The left-handed opener is looking for an encore this season. “I have been struggling with injuries for some time now. So I am looking to start fresh. The first season was great and I hope I can do that again,” said Marsh.
It was his exploits in the IPL that convinced selectors back home to fast-track him into the national squad. And the youngster is quick to credit the IPL. “Not many people knew who I was before I came here. It turned out to be a stepping stone,” he said.
What should one expect this season? Will he play the same way, or has international exposure changed his technique and mindset? “No, I will be what I was two years back. That’s what has brought me success and I will stick to it.” Marsh also made it clear that he wasn’t for innovative strokes. “It’s not my cup of tea, I will stick to conventional ones and make sure that I am there till the end.”
Apart from himself, Shaun is excited about younger brother, Mitchell, getting picked up by the Deccan Chargers. “It’s fantastic that Mitch has got a chance to play in the IPL. It’ll be nice to face him if he gets a game when we play the Chargers,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}As for the Kings XI, Marsh was confident of the team turning the corner. “We’ve lost three, but we lost from a winning position. With the win in the last game, I think we are back on track.”
