Young India opener Shubman Gill caught everyone’s attention during the ongoing ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup by pulling off a breathtaking short arm jab for a six that was similar to the one Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli had played against England in the same month last year.
Gill conjured up the shot while facing pacer Nkosilathi Nungu during India’s final Group B match against Zimbabwe at Mount Maunganui on Friday. Gill hit an unbeaten 90 off 59 balls that was studded with 14 fours and one maximum as India romped home to a 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe to enter the Super League quarter-finals.

Kohli had hit a similar six off England bowler Chris Woakes during an ODI in Pune on January 15, 2017. Kohli, on that day, had scored a sublime 105-ball 122 to help India chase down a mammoth target of 351.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted a picture to highlight the similarity between Gill and Kohli’s shots. The tweet also carried a link to the video showing the comparison between the two shots.

The 18-year-old Gill has been in terrific form in the ICC U-19 cricket World cup, scoring 153 runs from three matches with a staggering average of 153 and an impressive strike rate of 135.39.
