There are players who are good enough to adjust to any conditions and setup. There are many others who find it tough once they switch teams. This could be due to a combination of factors.
Some don't fit into the new coach's scheme of things; some don't enjoy the conditions while some simply don't fit in the style of play at their new club.
Except for a few retained players, there has been a complete overhaul in the fourth season of the IPL. It’s interesting to follow the fortunes of the players in their new set ups. Three former Kings XI Punjab heavyweights are captaining different teams. Yuvraj Singh is leading Pune Warriors, Kumar Sangakkara the Deccan Chargers, and Mahela Jayawardene the Kochi Tuskers.
Yuvraj was the most relieved to leave his old team, but his fortunes haven't changed. His problems at Kings XI started when his captaincy was questioned, and success as a leader eludes him at Warriors too. Pune have eight points after 11 matches and are third from the bottom.
The change has also not been good for Sangakkara, who replaced Yuvraj as the Punjab captain last season. Deccan Chargers languish at the bottom of the pile (until the game vs Mumbai Indians).

{{/usCountry}}Jayawardene has been more comfortable in the new set-up. He has been a confident leader, and despite the absence of big names, he has marshaled his troops well. Kochi are placed seventh with 10 points.
Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders are the other revamped sides. Daredevils' former players are not doing badly while the team is in disarray. Their big names Gautam Gambhir and Daniel Vettori have made their mark as captains with KKR and RCB respectively.
The player who is really relishing the change is Chris Gayle. An underachiever at KKR, Gayle has been a spectacular success with Royal Challengers.
